Helping others is the Way of ServiceDuring this month of Virgo, we feel the urge to be of Service.  Sometimes this desire to serve has us offering suggestions for perfection within some project which will bring out the picky nature of this Virgo influence.  This is all fine and good until someone gets hurt.

I recently exchanged an e-mail with a very nice lady who mentioned how hard it was to deal with people who think it’s better to say what’s on their mind and be truthful no matter what the effect their truth has upon the other person – all in the name of “good intensions.”  They think that plain and truthful speaking is better (more healthy) than keeping their true feelings hidden.  While it’s true that bottling up negative emotion is not healthy, it’s also not healthy to send negative vibrations toward another person either.  I, personally, would rather say nothing if I couldn’t find a positive way to voice my opinion.

Dr. Emoto’s work with the effects of emotional vibrations upon water clearly shows that transmitted thought has definite effects upon whatever it is aimed at.  Since the human body is about 70% water, how much do you think our thoughts affect our health – or the health of those we interact with?

I'm in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas.  Here in the South it's generally understood that "it's better to be polite than it is to be right."  One of the unwritten common-sense small-town understandings is "thou shall not piss off thy neighbor," or anyone else you might meet or talk to, because in a small town what goes around comes back around very quickly.  The lady you cut off trying to get a parking space at the grocery store may turn out to be the lady at the DMV or the teller at your bank, or in some other important position where they can return some unkindness right back at you - if you’re not careful.

Learning a high regard for harmony is exactly what I like about the idea of a community or neighborhood which is brought together based on the same spiritual concepts... aware that the Law of Cause and Effect means that whatever you do comes back to you in one way or another.

We recognize Mother Nature's natural laws and always want them working in our favor in order to be more proficient in achieving our magical goals.

One of the ways we can place emphasis on the good and the beautiful is by attending regular gatherings where everyone comes to express:

*  An insight or spiritual realization
*  A dream or vision that seems important
*  Sharing some Truth that Mother Nature has revealed to them while out in the forest
*  or just express our Gratitudes for what we appreciate in our lives.

This is a time when we can feel safe and comfortable to share our deeper thoughts and express who we really are down deep.  From the sharing of these insights we have the opportunity to see each other as the spiritual beings we really are.  This creates a ‘group mind’ or group ideal which continually reminds us of all our blessings and how good our lives really are.

In this way we emphasize the good, the beautiful and the awe inspired marvelous nature of our existence, and de-emphasize or down-play whatever our frustrations may be.  After a time of joining in such a meeting of the minds, we find ourselves beginning to look for things to talk about in these gatherings as we go about our daily life.  We begin to focus on the good and the beautiful, and discover that where we find beauty, there lies Truth.  We create an opportunity to share these inspiration thoughts, and think them together, because we are know that whatever a person thinks about enough will show up in their experience.  Therefore, if we place emphasis on the good and the beautiful, then that's what we get more of within our experience.  As a result of this sacred sharing in service to each other, our lives can only improve!

It's always good to have the Law of Cause and Effect working in one's favor!

•    Can you discriminate between the kind of talk that feels good, and the kind that feels bad?
•    Does it matter to you how you treat other people?
•    Can you see the Law of Cause and Effect at work in your life?
•    If you find yourself wanting to offer a suggestion in order to be of service, will your comments inspire a positive response?

If what goes around comes back around, what’s waiting for you in your future?

It’s worth thinking about…

TRULY BE OF SERVICE

Shambhala training is based on developing gentleness and genuineness so that we can help ourselves and develop tenderness in our hearts. We no longer wrap ourselves in the sleeping bag of our cocoon. We feel responsible for ourselves, and we feel good taking responsibility. We also feel grateful that, as human beings, we can actually be of service to others.

Be kind to others and in doing so be genuine. When we are real, and genuine, we can help others a lot.

I may not have any training in first aid, but I can put a Band-Aid on someone's finger.  When I can be kind and ready to act out of that kindness I am no longer afraid to help.

When you begin to help others out of kindness, you step out of your cocoon, and become real. The point of the training is not to produce fake people. The point is to become genuine - a “real” person who wants to help others.

DISCRIMINATION: QUOTES Of The DAY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Understand that somewhere between the nitpicking devastation that freaks you out and messes up your vibration and the stepping back into the feeling that all-is-wellness, there is a happy ground on every subject for you. So what you want to do is be as specific as you can be while thinking about what you want, and still feel good. But not so specific that it takes you from this good feeling which is your point of balance.”
~ Abraham-Hicks
“A spiritual person needs to be careful. The more confident we are, the more likely our egos will get us into trouble. It's relatively easy to become self-righteous. We start to think we are teachers and others are students. We start to judge others. We start, very subtlety at first, to play God. After a while we really get good at it. This is very dangerous. We need to remind ourselves, we are here to do God's will. We need to pray every morning. Each day we need to check in with God to see what He would have us do. At night we need to spend time with God and review our day. By doing these things, we will stay on track.”
~ Don Coyhis, Mohawk
"Those who live for one another learn that love is the bond of perfect unity."
~ Fools Crow, Lakota
“To serve each other, to respect each other, to trust each other, to honor each other, to love each other, to cooperate with each other, to care for each other, to forgive one another, to focus on peoples' good, to laugh with one another, to learn from one another; to pray for each other - these are all acts of love. These values and actions will connect us to one another in the Unseen World. Nature is a good example of how we should get along with one another. Watch nature. She is our teacher. Nature lives to give to one another. The insects give to the birds who give to the four legged who give to the two legged. The Creator made all things perfect.”
~ Don Coyhis, Mohawk
"The mind's eye changes the way we judge things."
~ Fools Crow, Lakota
"‘What you see is what you get.’ Our head has inside it a movie projector that projects out from our foreheads and shines on a screen a picture of our true thoughts. This is our reality. We can only see what we project (our beliefs). If we believe someone is a jerk, every time we see them we reflect our beliefs about what we think about that person and that is all we can see. Even if someone tells us this person is a kind, loving, caring, intelligent individual, we wouldn't be able to see it. If we change our belief about them, that person will change and so will our judgment about that person.”
~ Don Coyhis, Mohawk
“Through meditation we receive a consciousness which becomes one with that of the world; we become directly aware of a universal Being, universal Force and Power, universal Mind, and a Life in divine relationship with these things.  Meditation gives us cosmic consciousness.”
~ Aurobindo Ghose, Hindu philosopher, poet, and mystic
"As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being."
~ Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) Swiss psychiatrist, Psychologist and Founder of the Analytic Psychology
THE APPRECIATION OF RELATIONSHIPS
A relationship is something to appreciate. A relationship allows you to share experiences. It lets you see yourself through someone else's eyes, and if that can be annoying at times, it is also a wonderful opportunity for self-awareness and growth.
A relationship provides companionship, affection, entertainment, support, and caring. It allows you to share responsibilities and combine your abilities and assets of all types: mental, physical, emotional, and financial.
All of these characteristics can be valued and cherished. Grow the love in your life by appreciating your relationships.
GRATITUDE
When we express our gratitude, we naturally attract more blessings to be grateful for. Like attracts like, and the positive energy you show the universe attracts more of the same. People who see your happiness are attracted to you. Subconsciously, they may hope that their interaction with you will inspire a similar attitude in them.
The world tends to reflect and amplify whatever we are feeling, and when we are grateful, unexpected gifts that increase our gratitude find their way to us. Let yourself be grateful and get ready to receive more good that you can be grateful for.
Virgo: "I Analyze"
1st Decan Influence: "Discrimination"
August 24th – September 2nd
Virgo’s cardinal influence is "Discrimination," the ability to perceive differences.  This word, like many, has undergone some change in connotation in common usage.  Unfortunately the change has been on the negative side and leaves us with an impression that "discrimination" is an undesirable thing.  The word has been applied to the injustices of racial slurs.  The fact is that it comes from the Latin "discrimino", which actually means the ability to analyze, the capacity to perceive the parts of a thing and thus break it down into its just parts.  Clearly, this is wise.
A "discriminating person" has come to imply a fussy or "picky" one, a trait we also see in many Virgos.  However, in its pure sense, the word only means the ability to differentiate things from one another, an analytical process without which we would be hard put to be wise.
The relationship between the ability to discriminate and the capacity to live wisely is borne forth most clearly in the Message of Virgo:  “Determine thy path with care, that you may follow the steep, narrow, and unused trail to perfection, but not the broad pleasant ways of the mortal world.”  Discriminate and analyze, for only thus can you determine the path of Wisdom.
