~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TRULY BE OF SERVICE Shambhala training is based on developing gentleness and genuineness so that we can help ourselves and develop tenderness in our hearts. We no longer wrap ourselves in the sleeping bag of our cocoon. We feel responsible for ourselves, and we feel good taking responsibility. We also feel grateful that, as human beings, we can actually be of service to others. Be kind to others and in doing so be genuine. When we are real, and genuine, we can help others a lot. I may not have any training in first aid, but I can put a Band-Aid on someone's finger. When I can be kind and ready to act out of that kindness I am no longer afraid to help. When you begin to help others out of kindness, you step out of your cocoon, and become real. The point of the training is not to produce fake people. The point is to become genuine - a “real” person who wants to help others. From the article: Coming Out of the Cocoon by Ch”gyam Trungpa. So what you want to do is be as specific as you can be while thinking about what you want, and still feel good. But not so specific that it takes you from this good feeling which is your point of balance.” ~ Abraham-Hicks “A spiritual person needs to be careful. The more confident we are, the more likely our egos will get us into trouble. It's relatively easy to become self-righteous. We start to think we are teachers and others are students. We start to judge others. We start, very subtlety at first, to play God. After a while we really get good at it. This is very dangerous. We need to remind ourselves, we are here to do God's will. We need to pray every morning. Each day we need to check in with God to see what He would have us do. At night we need to spend time with God and review our day. By doing these things, we will stay on track.” ~ Don Coyhis, Mohawk "Those who live for one another learn that love is the bond of perfect unity." ~ Fools Crow, Lakota “To serve each other, to respect each other, to trust each other, to honor each other, to love each other, to cooperate with each other, to care for each other, to forgive one another, to focus on peoples' good, to laugh with one another, to learn from one another; to pray for each other - these are all acts of love. These values and actions will connect us to one another in the Unseen World. Nature is a good example of how we should get along with one another. Watch nature. She is our teacher. Nature lives to give to one another. The insects give to the birds who give to the four legged who give to the two legged. The Creator made all things perfect.” ~ Don Coyhis, Mohawk "The mind's eye changes the way we judge things." ~ Fools Crow, Lakota "‘What you see is what you get.’ Our head has inside it a movie projector that projects out from our foreheads and shines on a screen a picture of our true thoughts. This is our reality. We can only see what we project (our beliefs). If we believe someone is a jerk, every time we see them we reflect our beliefs about what we think about that person and that is all we can see. Even if someone tells us this person is a kind, loving, caring, intelligent individual, we wouldn't be able to see it. If we change our belief about them, that person will change and so will our judgment about that person.” ~ Don Coyhis, Mohawk “Through meditation we receive a consciousness which becomes one with that of the world; we become directly aware of a universal Being, universal Force and Power, universal Mind, and a Life in divine relationship with these things. Meditation gives us cosmic consciousness.” ~ Aurobindo Ghose, Hindu philosopher, poet, and mystic "As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being." ~ Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) Swiss psychiatrist, Psychologist and Founder of the Analytic Psychology ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE APPRECIATION OF RELATIONSHIPS A relationship is something to appreciate. A relationship allows you to share experiences. It lets you see yourself through someone else's eyes, and if that can be annoying at times, it is also a wonderful opportunity for self-awareness and growth. A relationship provides companionship, affection, entertainment, support, and caring. It allows you to share responsibilities and combine your abilities and assets of all types: mental, physical, emotional, and financial. All of these characteristics can be valued and cherished. Grow the love in your life by appreciating your relationships. From the article: Growing the Love In Relationships by Noelle Nelson, Ph.D. & Jeannine Calaba, Psy.D. http://www.innerself.com/Relationships/nelson_calaba_12054.htm © Reproductions permitted http://www.innerself.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ GRATITUDE When we express our gratitude, we naturally attract more blessings to be grateful for. Like attracts like, and the positive energy you show the universe attracts more of the same. People who see your happiness are attracted to you. Subconsciously, they may hope that their interaction with you will inspire a similar attitude in them. The world tends to reflect and amplify whatever we are feeling, and when we are grateful, unexpected gifts that increase our gratitude find their way to us. Let yourself be grateful and get ready to receive more good that you can be grateful for. © Reproductions Permitted http://www.DailyOM.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Virgo: "I Analyze" 1st Decan Influence: "Discrimination" August 24th – September 2nd Virgo’s cardinal influence is "Discrimination," the ability to perceive differences. This word, like many, has undergone some change in connotation in common usage. Unfortunately the change has been on the negative side and leaves us with an impression that "discrimination" is an undesirable thing. The word has been applied to the injustices of racial slurs. The fact is that it comes from the Latin "discrimino", which actually means the ability to analyze, the capacity to perceive the parts of a thing and thus break it down into its just parts. Clearly, this is wise. A "discriminating person" has come to imply a fussy or "picky" one, a trait we also see in many Virgos. However, in its pure sense, the word only means the ability to differentiate things from one another, an analytical process without which we would be hard put to be wise. The relationship between the ability to discriminate and the capacity to live wisely is borne forth most clearly in the Message of Virgo: “Determine thy path with care, that you may follow the steep, narrow, and unused trail to perfection, but not the broad pleasant ways of the mortal world.” Discriminate and analyze, for only thus can you determine the path of Wisdom. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For more on the lessons of VIRGO see: http://druidcraft.us/astrology.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DO YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE? You can hide any or all of the Modules on the Site by clicking the "-" icon on the left panel above the Main Menu. Clicking the "+" will expand them all again. You can also click on the name of any of the Modules to hide just them! So if you don't need to see the Syndicate or (gasp!) the Donation Modules for example, just click on their Title, it is usually in Gold and will appear as a link now! This will work for most items in the Tabs as well, but why do that when ya can just click the same Tab twice to hide them?
During this month of Virgo, we feel the urge to be of Service. Sometimes this desire to serve has us offering suggestions for perfection within some project which will bring out the picky nature of this Virgo influence. This is all fine and good until someone gets hurt.
