Modern life can be so isolating. It calls us to think about the details of living and we can certainly get so caught up in it all that we don’t take time to really connect with the Creator, from which comes the creative power of Source Energy. It is this connection that keeps us consciously traveling our Path through this life.
I realized that I have been having a hard time recently finding things to appreciate and count among my blessings, because there are so many things changing in my life right now. For instance, my computer has crashed and won't boot up. ThePhoenix isn't sure that he can retrieve my e-mail program at all - so I've lost all the lessons, etc. that have been sent to me. If you haven't gotten them back, then chances are they'll need to be sent again - but not right now - because I have no way of retrieving them. It looks like I'm going to need a new computer, but with the $1200.00 car expenses (I have yet to pay) THIS is going to be difficult, and may take me a while before I have my own computer to get back on-line, since this one is his.
We are separating. ThePhoenix is moving out this week-end, and then going out of town for a few weeks. He has talked about wanting to go back home to visit family for quite a while, and I'm so glad that he wants to re-connect with his roots (so to speak) since he hasn't seen his family in over 5 years now. Without his added income and support, though, these expenses are going to be difficult for me.
A Little Help From My Friends
I've always offered these newsletters - free of charge. But I really need a little help from my friends, so as much as I hate to do it, I'd like to ask you good people to help me out by donating whatever you can to help me get back to writing newsletters on a computer that works. The one I'm using now will be gone when ThePhoenix leaves. Please find the donation button on the web-site: http://awordtothewise.info. If you enjoy these newsletter and want to continue getting more of them, your help is greatly needed and most appreciated!! Remember, what goes around, always comes back around. Donations are always rewarded by the Universe in delightfully unexpected ways! If you would like to exchange an astrological reading for your donation, I would be happy to do that for you as well.
There are many things to appreciate, if I just look for them, however. Outside my window this morning I notice once again the overwhelming fog that surrounds the house. The first thing it reminds me of is how foggy my thinking has been lately, but I always try to find the best in whatever I'm looking at. So I take the time to notice the beautiful shades of gray, the mysterious appearance the fog gives to the forest, and how much easier it is to see the great variety of spider-webs in the grass, and to find all sorts of animals on or near the roadside that usually see me coming and scurry away long before I come upon them. Mother Nature comforts me, and I am always grateful to Her for that! There's something to appreciate!!
Wouldn’t it be an amazing world if mankind's dominant thought was of gratitude and appreciation for all living things?!! If that was so, then every time we had a choice and had something to think over, we would tie into this high frequency of loving thoughts and THAT would be the basis of our decisions – rather than the dominant mixture of tension and bad feelings that we now have for a reference point - in the group mind of mankind..
No wonder it takes such effort for most folks to change negative thinking into a positive outlook!!
“Black Elk saw the earth becoming sick. The animals, the winged ones, and the four-legged ones grew frightened. All living things became gaunt and poor. The air and the waters dirtied and smelled foul. Below, Black Elk saw a blue man living in and empowering the sickness. The powers of the four directions, represented by four horses, charged the blue man, but were beaten back. The Grandfathers called upon Black Elk. His bow changed into a spear, and he swooped down on the blue man, killing him. When the blue man fell, all life came back upon the earth; all things became fresh and healthy again.” ~ Excerpted from “Black Elk Speaks” by John G. Neihardt Part of Black Elk’s vision, Oglala Sioux Medicine Man
Perhaps the “Blue Man” represents the negative and depressing thoughts that are so prevalent in mankind. Once we get rid of the idea that the glass is half empty and replace it with the sense that our glass is always half full, perhaps we will finally kill the Blue Man.
Living consciously – aware of the feelings we are transmitting – requires some time for reflection and consideration of what’s going on in your life. Unless you quiet your mind and shut out the demands of the outside world each day, it’s very difficult to “see the forest for the trees" (or fog - in my case). Time for quiet reflection is a MUST if one would walk their Path with open eyes that can see through the fog to see the bigger picture.
It’s difficult to do this by ourselves. We need to interact with others of like mind with whom we can share our thoughts and ideas and who can help us remember the greater perspective and the meaning of the events in our lives. When you regularly meet with others of like mind it is easier to remember who you are and what you are doing here.
A coven of like-minded individuals will provide the support that is so crucial to those beginning the study of this greater perspective. These are ‘safe’ places to discuss the events of one’s life in confidence, receive inspired advice through divination, and re-set our sights so that we can continue walking our Path consciously.
The ‘call’ to develop a tribal community with like-minded folks rings loud in my ears. But I'm discovering that a tribal community can develop with caring folks who live near - even if you don't share the same bit of land. A tribal community is developing here, on this little gravel road upon which I live. There are several others here that would drop everything to come to my aid, should I need their assistance with something urgent. It is delightful to feel the closeness of those who truly care about each other in an extended family type of lifestyle.
This is very much like the prophecy/vision of Black Elk, Oglala Sioux Medicine Man:
“I looked ahead and saw the mountains there with rocks and forests on them, and from the mountains flashed all colors upward to the heavens. Then I was standing on the highest mountain of them all, and round about beneath me was the whole hoop of the world. And while I stood there I saw more than I can tell and I understood more than I saw; for I was seeing in a sacred manner the shapes of all things in the spirit, and the shape of all shapes as they must live together like one being. And I saw that the sacred hoop of my people was one of many hoops that made one circle, wide as daylight and as starlight, and in the center grew one mighty flowering tree to shelter all the children of one mother and one father. And I saw that it was holy.
“A sacred herb became four flowers, four blossoms on a single stem. The four-rayed herb - red, yellow, black, and white - became the FLOWERING TREE. Black Elk heard a song: A good nation I will make live, this nation above has said, they have given me the power to make over.
“Then Black Elk saw that the sacred hoop of his people was only one of many hoops, all joined together to make one great circle, the great hoop of all peoples. In the center of the great hoop stood a powerful, sheltering, Flowering Tree, and under it gathered children of all nations.” ~ Excerpted from “Black Elk Speaks” by John G. Neihardt originally published in 1932. Part of Black Elk’s vision, Oglala Sioux Medicine Man
My ol’ teacher, Father Eli, told us that this is the way we will survive the coming ‘cleansing’ that the Hopi prophesize… dwelling together under the shade of the Flowering Tree (of Black Elk’s vision).
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be surrounded by a community of like-minded folks, who would love and care for each other and ‘be there’ to help one another through whatever may come?
Wouldn’t it be delightful to live in a community where every one truly cares about each other... a place free of depression and negativity, where the dominant thoughts are peaceful and loving?
I was privileged to live in this kind of community with about 20 others for 12 years, so I know from personal experience what a joyful delight it is. This same kind of feeling is developing among the extended family of nearby friends
If we consciously assimilated the high vibrations of a close-knit community, wouldn’t it be easier to make decisions that benefited all concerned if we had THIS for our basis of decision making?!!
It’s worth thinking about…

KEEPING CONSCIOUS Staying Grounded In A Busy World
1. Live simply and live deliberately. By choosing not to get caught up in the details of this fast-paced world, you are doing your part to slow down the speed of life. You will also discover that you have more time to enjoy being alive.
2. Stay in touch with yourself. Soul searching, meditation, and journaling are just a few of the many activities you can take part in to stay aware and learn as much as you can about your emotions, reactions, likes, dislikes, dreams, and fears. Having a solid sense of self gives you a firm foundation for living in this world.
3. Support or teach others as often as you can. This can help you form connections with people while also giving you an opportunity to make the world a better place.
4. Consciously choose what you will allow into your being. The media bombards us with visions of hate, war, and pain. Be judicious about what you read, watch, and listen to.
5. Acknowledge the beauty that resides around you. Whether you live in a sprawling metropolis or a stereotypical suburb, there are natural and man-made wonders just waiting to be discovered by you.
6. Nurture your ties to your tribe. If you don't have one, create a community that you can belong to. Modern life can be isolating. When you have a tribe, you have a circle that you are a part of. Its members - loved ones, friends, or neighbors - can be a source of support, caring, guidance, and companionship.
7. See the larger picture. Remember that the way that you choose to live is not the only way to live. Widen your perspective by exploring other modes of being through research, travel, and discussion.
8. Embrace the challenges that life presents to you, and challenge yourself often. After a time, even the most exciting jobs or lifestyles can seem routine. Never stop assimilating new knowledge about whatever you are doing, and your life will never seem dull.
9. Move your body. In this busy world, it can be easy to live a sedentary life. Movement reacquaints us with our bodies and connects us to the earth in a visceral way. It also restores our vitality.
10. Make time for stillness, silence, and solitude. The world can be noisy, and we are subject to all kinds of noises nearly every waking hour. We are also often "on the go" and unable to relax. Being alone in a peaceful place and making time for quiet can help you stay in touch with yourself. © Reproductions Permitted http://www.DailyOM.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ASSIMILATION: QUOTE OF THE DAY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The poet Longfellow recorded the following from the Iroquois Chanter Nawadaha, in 1863, in the lovely valley of Tawasentha (now called Norman’s Kill), Albany County, New York State. This ‘calling of the tribes of men together’ is also mentioned in the Hopi prophecies. Was this poem a prophecy that was recorded nearly 150 years ago? Perhaps now is the time to listen again more intently… Enjoy! ~ Misty-Eve*
“Gitche Manito, the Mighty, smoked the calumet, the Peace-Pipe, as a signal to the nations... And the Prophets of the nations said: ‘Behold it, the Pukwana!...’
“Over them he stretched his right hand... Spake to them with voice majestic as the sound of far-off waters, falling into deep abysses, warning, chiding, spake in this wise:
“’O my children! my poor children! Listen to the words of wisdom, listen to the words of warning, from the lips of the Great Spirit, from the Master of Life, who made you!...
“’I am weary of your quarrels, weary of your wars and bloodshed, Weary of your prayers for vengeance, of your wranglings and dissensions; all your strength is in your union, all your danger is in discord; therefore be at peace henceforward, and as brothers live together.’” ~ “The Song of Hiawatha”, H. W. Longfellow ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TODAY'S POSITIVE THOUGHT Being conscious of your thoughts is the first step in transforming your reality.
Today's Positive Affirmation: I AM conscious of my thoughts and I easily replace them with thoughts that create the life I desire.
Today's Positive Visualization: I begin to breathe slowly and evenly. With each new breath I release any confusion from my thinking. I imagine that my mind is becoming perfectly clear and free of all doubt and worry. In my mind's eye I see myself going throughout my day being conscious of my thoughts and feelings. I imagine that I am easily able to replace any limiting thoughts with limitless positive ones. As I combine these new expanded thoughts with a positive emotion I see my thoughts becoming the reality I want and deserve.
I give thanks that my thoughts create a wonderful reality for me. I combine these images with the feelings of joy and let them go, knowing that they will create the good things I am visualizing and thinking. © Reproductions Permitted http://www.free-positive-thought.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cancer: ‘I FEEL’ 3rd Decan Influence: ‘ASSIMILATION’
July 13th – July 23rd
Cancer is mutable in its third decan for at the end, things are always phasing out and the new is felt. As you know, all the signs rule some part of the body and Cancer rules the stomach. The stomach assimilates. Assimilate means to "take in." Just as the stomach takes in our food, the Cancer person takes in also, taking others into his arms and into his heart. It is appropriate too that this follows sympathy, for only when we have taken others' feelings are we prepared to take them into our hearts. When we suffer with people it is then that we want to take them into our arms.
Cancer influences us to learn more about our Feelings. First to feel our own inner knowing: INTUITION; then to feel with others in SYMPATHY; and finally to take others' into our lives and thus ASSIMILATE them. This is brotherhood! This is sisterhood! It is this unity which the Wise people seek through their harmony with each other and the Gods. To be -- To have - To think - and finally to rise to our mental lives through our feelings and to take others, as our beloved brothers and sisters, into ourselves. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For more on the lessons of CANCER see: http://druidcraft.us/astrology.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
