Self-SympathyI have an older lady friend, 92 this year, who told me that she attributed her longevity to the fact that she listens to what her body tells her and always tries to be good to herself.
 
•    Being retired, she has the luxury of staying in bed all day if her energy level is low.
•    When she’s hungry, she listens to what her natural cravings are for, and many times will eat only vegetables or fruit.

My first inclination is to think of this reflective time and ability to listen to one’s self as a luxury, but it is actually the state of mind of a well-balanced, centered individual.
 
This gives rise to the question, how often am I sympathetic to my needs? 

How often do I take the time to tune into what my own body tells me and then act upon what I feel? 

Since I've been going through this separation from my hubby.  I have good days and bad days, but through it all, I'm listening to what my body is telling me.  High blood pressure speaks loud and clear.

Since I've been listening to this message I've been changing the way I feel.  Instead of tuning into him and the chaos surrounding his departure, I'm now listening much more intently to what my own body is telling me, and making adjustments accordingly. 

Attuning to and being in harmony with one’s self is much more difficult than it sounds because I find myself continually distracted by what goes on in my world.
 
The regular daily practice of meditation is what helps me tune into my needs. 

Do you allow yourself the time you need to become in sync with yourself? 

Do you practice healthy self-sympathy?

Are you aware of your body’s wisdom? Our bodies usually know us better than our minds do. If you have a decision to make, consult your body before making a final choice.
 
Reflect on an option before you and then pay attention to your body. Are you breathing deeply or barely at all? Are your muscles tense or relaxed? Is your energy blocked or flowing?
 
Your body knows what it likes and it feels good when it's happy. As your body is the source of your vitality, your motivation, your inspiration and enthusiasm and most importantly, your intuition, it's best to get that part of you on-side if you are venturing into a new activity.

I ACKNOWLEDGE AND RESPECT MY NEEDS

 
Does being compassionate mean we must bend over backward when others ask us to -- or that we must assist in solving everyone's problems or gratifying their desires? Definitely not.
 
When helping others causes problems for us, it is time for a careful review of ourselves and our objectives.
 
Life is infinitely more pleasant when we possess the ability to comfortably refuse unreasonable or inconvenient requests. If we'd like to refuse obligations that aren't really ours and want to avoid feeling angry and resentful when people don't respect our needs, we must keep one important fact in mind: If we don't acknowledge and respect ourselves and our needs, neither will anyone else.

CANCER: “I FEEL”
2nd Decan Influence: "SYMPATHY"


July 2nd – July 12st

The second of July this year heralds the entrance to the Second Decan of Cancer. This period teaches us more about Cancer’s "feeling" with Sympathy. This is something more than feeling, however; it is feeling together. It follows on the heels of Intuition because it is an intuitive knowing with regard to other people. The derivation of the word tells us this. It is derived from the root "sym" which means together; and from "path" which is feeling or suffering. Hence "Sympath", feeling together.  Sympathy is the sharing of another person's mental or emotional state, and that too is appropriate to Cancer.

This gift of sympathetically feeling another’s joy and pain takes a special strength to handle while being sensitive to their needs for privacy.  When people's feelings become known, things can become very dramatic. Watch others and search within for your feelings of sympathy. This can be a good time for getting feelings together with the Brothers and Sisters and learn a Cancer lesson doing so.
