he Stream of Well-BeingWhat a lovely September we’re having here in the Ozarks!  Usually it doesn’t cool off until October, but the nights have begun to cool off and even the days have cooled down into the 70’s!  I see that the northeast will be having some below freezing weather in the next day or two!

This season of warm days and cool nights seems to always bring a closer scrutiny of my health.  The evening fan brings in cold temperatures and by morning the house feels chilly.  I find myself wondering if I need to bring a sweater to work with me, and I run the heater in the car just a bit to take the edge off the coolness of the morning.

At my new job I am observing that people are sneezing and coughing, and I realize that now is the time to boost my own immune system.

Garlic is an amazing herb that does many wonderful things.  It lowers cholesterol, and boosts the immune system.  It is a natural antibiotic which I find does wonders to alleviate cold symptoms.  It has been used to prevent infection for thousands of years; and it still works!  Cooked garlic retains its antibacterial powers, so long as you eat enough of it. No need to upset your stomach (and loved ones) by eating it raw, though a thin slice of raw garlic held in the cheek will get rid of a sore throat very quickly!

Echinacea is another amazing herb, essential for your winter-time cold remedies.   It’s one of the best blood purifiers and an effective antibiotic. It activates the body's immune system increasing the chances of fighting off any disease. This popular herb has been used to help ward off the common cold and to relieve the symptoms of hay fever.  It is especially effective for colds, coughs and flu and other upper respiratory conditions, enlarged lymph glands, sore throat.

Herbs alone are not enough, however.  What we think is also an important part of building strong immunity.  Candace Pert, visiting professor of neuroscience at Rutgers University, has proven that every cell of the body participates in the immune system through an integrated network of chemical, electrical, and hormonal signals.

The immune system is a network, she says, which resonates with the vibrations that surround it. It is as affected by emotions as by bacteria, as impacted by thoughts as by drugs.

Long-standing low-level depression, smoldering anger that is never expressed, bitterness and vengeance projected into the future are all known to depress immune functioning.

On the other hand, prayer, affirmations, positive thinking - no matter what you call it, talking lovingly to yourself builds powerful immunity.

One’s health can be improved with herbs, but our over-all health depends on how we think.

If you realized that positive, appreciative, optimistic thinking would positively affect your health, would you try harder to be “a glass half-full” kind of person?

It’s worth thinking about…

Healthy Support is Gossip-Free

Autumn ReflectionsI love the drive into Mountain View along the mountain ridges overlooking the White River valley!  I sometimes see rain clouds that seem to be dragging their under sides as they travel over the mountain tops changing my distant views into a foggy cloud-like mist as the road brings me over the tops of the hills.

There is a place in the road where there is no obstruction to my view of the river valley, and there I saw fingers of fog rising up out of the tree covered hillside toward the passing clouds.  It seemed to me they were saying, “Wait for us!  We want to go, too!”

I love the drive to Mountain View along the mountain ridges overlooking the White River valley! I sometimes see rain clouds that seem to be dragging their under sides as they traveled over the mountain tops changing my distant views into a foggy cloud-like mist as the road brings me over the tops of the hills.

There is a place in the road where there is no obstruction to my view of the valley, and there I saw fingers of fog rising up out of the tree covered hillside toward the passing clouds. It seemed to me they were saying, “Wait for us! We want to go, too!”

The Law of Attraction tells us that which is like unto itself is drawn, and here was a perfect example. It occurred to me that we are all like those wisps of fog reaching to join the greater whole to some extent, I think.

I spent some time with a friend recently who is having a lot of trouble in her life right now. She is reaching out for help with her problems which are so great that I can only point her in the direction of those who are professionally able to help her more than I can. But my heart goes out to her, nevertheless.

She has been at a crossroads with many decisions to make and needs encouragement to walk with courage. While I can’t make those decisions for her, I can stand by, hold her hand, and give her the support she needs while she makes her own decisions. I only want her to be happy, no matter what choice she makes. What is right for her is not something I can say, because she needs to live with the consequences of her own decisions.

She seems to be like one of those wisps of fog, reaching up to the clouds passing by saying… “wait for me, I want to go, too!”

Her desire for my love and comforting support is what draws her to me. How different it would be if I were to gossip about her problems and make judgments about her past decisions! If I did that I would develop an unhealthy attitude towards her and her problems. My inner attitude would be noticeable in the vibration of my language, I'm sure. Would she be as drawn to be with me if I did that? I think not.

Like attracts like in the mental world of thought. Gossip and judgment does not change the person talked about. It only announces to the world that the person talking needs to judge. If we are in the habit of judging others, then we will find ourselves in situations where we will be judging ourselves, and we can certainly be harder on ourselves than someone else can be.

There is no need for judgment, however. Each one of us has come to the place where we are now because of the decisions we’ve made in the past. We are exactly where we need to be. All any of us need to do is decide how we shall move forward from here.

When you find a friend with a problem do you offer support - only to turn around and gossip about your friend behind their back?  Remember... "As you sow, so shall you reap."   What goes around, always comes back around.

What will the Law of Attraction bring you as a result of YOUR thoughts?

It’s worth thinking about…

A Healthy Attitude of Gratitude
Written by Misty-Eve
Sunday, 14 September 2008

The view outside my windowsI love the view outside my window.  I overlook the White River valley and can see the mountain tops of the Ozark National Forest beyond.  IKE passed over last night leaving lots of rain for which I am thankful.

This morning as the sky lightens with the promise of the coming sunrise, the sky begins to turn from indigo to purple, then pink as the river fog begins to rise to fill the valley with cottony clouds.  The beauty I see each day fills my heart with awe.  I am so grateful to be living here.

When I begin to count my gratitudes I soon see that my world is full of them, no matter what else may be troubling me.

In the last few days I’ve heard from several people who’ve told me about their problems.  It always amazes me when so many start telling me about the same kinds of problems because it makes me think about how this synchronicity might occur due to the current influence.

Virgo is a very picky sign.  Our own analysis of events and people that may not have been a problem previously, now come to the forefront, as we pick things apart.  It’s easy to get caught up in a negative point of view and re-play everything we dis-like over and over until it becomes the vibration that we constantly offer the Universe.

The Law of Attraction tells us that “like attracts like” in the mental world of thought.  Therefore, when we focus on the negative and count the many instances where this negativity shows up, we are actually creating a vibration that draws similar experiences into our lives.

Oh sure, we all have things about our lives that we’d like to improve, but if you stand in your realization of the contrast between what you see and what you’d rather have, and complain about what IS, and count the many ways that you don’t like it, and explain why you dislike being in this place… then what vibration are you offering the Universe?  Are you really wanting to attract more of the things you Don’t Like?

The only way to move beyond what you don’t like is to imagine what you’d rather have instead… and then dwell on that idea, dream about it.  What does it look like?  Who’s there with you?  What are you doing?  How will your life change as a result?

“How is it that you achieve vibrational harmony with something? Well, you observe it, you contemplate it, you chew on it, you talk about it, you think about, you muse about it, you consider it, you remember it, you stew over it. In other words, by giving your attention to something, you begin to achieve vibrational harmony with your object of attention, and once that has been achieved, it is yours.”
~ Abraham-Hicks

The Law of Attraction works every time.  It is a Universal Law meaning it is true for all people, at all times, in all places.  If you want this great natural law working in your favor, you must watch what you think about and make sure it’s what you want to attract.

"You are a creator; you create with your every thought. You often create by default, for you are getting what you are giving your attention to wanted or unwanted.  Your FEELINGS will tell you if you are creating what you WANT or what you DON'T WANT.
~ Abraham Hicks

Virgo's Healthy Focus
Written by Misty-Eve

Focus on Health and Well-BeingSomeone asked me the other day how to get their spouse to stop blaming them for everything.  I was once married to a man who did just that.  He couldn’t move from the problem to thinking of solutions until he had first placed blame squarely on someone (anyone) else’s shoulders.

I always thought that was a bit like spinning our wheels - a total waste of time - because why does that matter?  We may never know the real cause of our problems.  Some problems arise because we need the experience in overcoming them.

Sometimes things happen because we make choices that are not so great.  Other times it’s just a twist of fate.  Regardless of why things happen, we still have to deal with finding solutions to our problems, and many times it's good to enlist the help of others in thinking things through.  The sooner we can get started on finding those solutions the sooner our problem will be over… and we’ll then be on to the next.

Our job is to find a way to deal with the problems in our lives in a healthy way.  I seem to have a lot more problems that I have to deal with now that my spouse is gone, like how to run a lawn mower without hurting my back, how to get electrical gadgets fixed, how to change a tire on my own.  But problems like these are just another chapter in my life story of all the things I've learned - another step along the way.

It's useless to wish we didn't have problems because we will never be done solving problems until we are at the end of this life.  In actuality, we will never be a finished product.  We’re not a table that someone has designed and built and finished.  We’re a living, growing work in progress, and we’ll never get it done.

On the day we finally climb out of this mortal ever-turning wheel-of-life, and become a citizen of the next plane of existence, we will still have problems to solve.  They will just be different ones.

My teacher once said: “No problems, no thinking.”
~ Father Eli

We have problems because we need to learn to think correctly.  Blaming someone else for the work we are doing is a little like blaming our parents for sending us to school.  Right thinking is what we’ve come here to learn.  Learning to think correctly is what will help us graduate from this nursery school we call life.

Problems that arise because we are focused on negatives are there to show us just that.  Focusing on negatives, and what’s dis-liked about our lives only bring us more of the same.  However, focusing on the possible solutions, our gratitudes and those things that we appreciate, also bring more of the same.

The next time you have a problem will you waste time finding someone else to blame?  Or will you focus on the solutions available until the right one falls into place?

Trying out different potential possibilities allows you to think through different scenarios, until one feels right.  However, focusing on your irritations, and shouting “no, no, no” at them, only brings more of these irritations into your life, because whatever you think about creates a vibrational transmittion that attracts the same vibration right back into your life.

Once we understand that whatever we send out, is what comes back into our lives - is it really worth all the fuss?

VIRGO'S 3rd Influence: HEALTH

Virgo (3) HealthVIRGO: “I Analyze”
2nd Decan Influence: “HEALTH”

September 12th - September 21st

Health is freedom from dis-ease. To have ease of mind and body is health.  We know from our own experience that we are most "at ease" when we are relaxed.  When our minds find no ease or our bodies are tense we can be called "dis-eased".  If we are healthy, we are free from disease and free from mental worry.  Everyone wants health but few know how to get it; or having it, know how to keep it.  Wise men know!  It is meditative 'relaxation', the mental side of reality - the above that determines this below.

I ran across an interesting little article in SYNC magazine that I’d like to share with you:

PCs Can Smell Your Fear
A new study suggests that “jinxed” computer users are to blame for system failures.

Why do some people have the worst luck with computers?  According to an ongoing 26-year study at Princeton University’s Engineering Anomalies Research lab, it’s because those individuals give off a “bad vibe.”  Yes, harboring a negative attitude about technology may impact a machine’s general well-being.  Source:  http://www.princeton.edu/~pear/2.html  Unfortunately it this great article doesn't appear at this URL any more.

~~~
I used to tutor folks on the use of the computer a few years ago and I noticed that those who were easily frustrated, or rushing because they were in a hurry, or were already in a bad mood when they sat down had weird and sometimes unexplainable things happen to their computers while they were working on them.  After some time of trying to fix what went wrong, I’d finally have to suggest that they just get up and go walk around the building to “cool off” and then come back and try it again… which usually worked.
Computers are highly sensitive electronic devices much like our own nervous system.  If computers respond to “bad vibes”, don’t we also respond to negative environments?
Do you feel better when surrounded by those who are optimistic, always seeing the glass as ½ full, happy and positive in nature, or when surrounded by those who are pessimistic, always seeing the glass as ½ empty, unhappy, frustrated and negative in nature?
Which of these two types of people would you rather be around?  In which environment do you feel better?
It’s worth thinking about…
