THE MESSAGE OF LIBRA: "Men Are That They Might Have Joy"
Why are we here and what should we expect in this mortal world? The message of Libra tells us that we exist so that we might have glad feelings, happiness, great pleasure and delight in living, and thus to express ourselves by rejoicing and giving this awareness of joy to others.
How different this is from the message for humanity declared in the churches, where it is said, "Men are that they might suffer." Herein we are different, for the wise know that their destiny, as is the destiny of everyone, is reunion with the Gods. There is joy in the knowledge of this reunion with our celestial parents - going home again! "Men are that they might have Joy". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
QUESTION OF THE DAY
How happy are you? Does it really matter whether you are happy or not?
The Law of Attraction says that which is like unto itself is drawn. Therefore if I am unhappy, I attract more unhappiness. Is that what I really want in my life?
I received a letter from a reader who told me he angered easily and can’t seem to control his emotional passion. If this is true, then he probably finds that he attracts people and events into his life which allow him to become more upset – because the Universe tries to give us whatever we dwell upon the most.
Someone who is easily angered is someone who is so passionate about his perspective that he can’t allow others the freedom to have their own point of view if it differs from his own.
What would happen to the variety we enjoy on this planet if everyone agreed with this perspective? If everyone had to conform to only one way of thinking – variety would disappear, because we would then all have the same thoughts.
Science, however, tells us that the Universe is diverse and continually expanding always seeking new avenues in which to expand and grow and develop. We, likewise, are also continually expanding our thinking and our expectations. As children of this Creative Universe, we stand on the leading edge of this expanding thought. We are given Choice because the Universe wants to give us whatever we want.
If we think about how terrible things are, or how we are confused… then this is what we get more of. However, we can also choose to think about what we DO want, and dream of the life we’d rather have – whatever that may be – and have the results of that thinking turn out more in our favor. But we are given the choice to either think about what we Want or what we Don’t Want.
Since the Universe only knows expansion and growth and abundance – it tries to give us whatever we dwell upon the most.
We are children of the Creator, growing into Their likeness, becoming magical creators in our own right. The Law of Attraction tells us whatever we dwell upon the most sets up a frequency that acts like a powerful magnet drawing to us those things that have a similar vibration. If that is so, then it would benefit our magical results to make sure we are offering a vibration that will keep the attraction going toward the object of our desire.
Do you want something one minute, and then tell yourself you’ll never get it in the next? If so, you are offering a vibration about what you Want, and then you are offering a vibration about the Lack of what you want. These two thoughts cancel each other out.
The only way to succeed in getting what you want is to dream about what you want and expect it to show up, while allowing others to dream their own dream and reap what they sow for themselves. Have you ever noticed that your first few thoughts set the tone for the day? If you burn the toast or spill the coffee (or do something else that irritates you) then the tone you’ve set for the day is one of irritation, and this is what you find coming into your experience as the day goes on. However, if you wake up, count your blessings, and whistle a happy tune, then you’ve set a completely different tone for your day. Those who are wise will notice that when they think positive thoughts, positive things happen.
We don’t all have to think alike; we just have to mind our own business and allow others the same courtesy. The Law of Cause and Effect will teach us that every thought we think creates an effect that comes back to us in one way or another.
We have been given the free will to choose what we want to have coming back to us. So the choice is ours. What kind of world do YOU want to live in? Is it a world where everyone is allowed the diversity of their thoughts, or does everyone and everything have to think and act – your way?
The choice is yours!
If every thought we think comes back to us, then we are pre-paving our way to the future that we, ourselves, are making. For example, if you think about joyful expectations, then joyful results are what you will achieve.
Are your thoughts an example of the vibration you want coming back into your life? If not... how can you change what you're thinking about now, so you get the results YOU WANT in the future?
It’s worth thinking about…

A poised person appears to be at ease. In our consideration of wisdom we define poise as "ease and dignity of manner." Under whatever circumstances the poised person is subjected to, s/he is relaxed and dignified. As people respond to what they encounter in others, the poised person thus helps them to feel at ease and grants them their dignity also. One way to be at ease and well-poised is to clear a spiritual space by smudging to remove old energies. You can also smudge yourself and others in the room with this same effect. Many people use incense for this, but Sage and Sweetgrass or Cedar are very effective also. Everything is energy. Everything vibrates according to it’s own frequency, even our thoughts. The Law of Attraction says that whatever we dwell upon the most sets up a frequency that acts like a powerful magnet drawing to us those things that have a similar vibration. If that is so, then it would benefit our magical results to make sure we are offering a vibration that will keep the attraction going toward the object of our desire. How do you prepare for your magical practice? Do you first clear your mind of all tension and negative thoughts? If we want the great Law of Attraction to work in our favor then regardless of what we want to manifest it would benefit us most to prepare a proper mind-set so that only positive, happy, joyous energy is present. "The beginning is purification, that's the first step. And purification means purification of body and mind. You don't purify the body without cleansing the mind; that's the way it works." ~ Rolling Thunder, Cherokee How can you fill your thoughts with positive energy? Counting your blessings is a good way to do this, remembering all the wonderful things that have come into your life… family, children, friends are among those I think of first. However, you can also be thankful for your dwelling, your vehicle, your stereo, or computer. Whatever you want to keep in your life is what you need to consider in your gratitudes. "One should pray in one's heart during a sacred ceremony; this is the purpose of the ceremony, to purify the participants both inside and outside.” ~ Thomas Yellowtail, Crow "Also ask your heart to purify and cleanse this defect and harmful desire. Ask also the help of the inner father and mother. Every time we eliminate a defect, we build our soul, our inner temple. We ascend, like going up a stairway." ~ Willaru Huayata, Quechua Nation, Peru When you begin your magical practice how do YOU prepare? Will the Law of Attraction be working in YOUR favor? Someone told me recently that life isn’t fair. I think that’s true in a way, because there are times when things happen to us just to test our character, and have nothing to do with our karma, or how good one’s character is, or what someone else may think of us. Some things just happen over which we have no control, and I usually find that it's wiser to step back for a time and ponder the situation, rather than to give a "knee jerk" type of reaction without the wisdom that comes from contemplation. I've been in a kind of "dark period" since my spouse and I have "split the blanket". "Dark" meaning, inward, and contemplative. I have asked myself questions like: ... what did I do wrong... what did I do right... what will I do differently next time? I've come to a place of peace, and I'm content to let life unfold with it's twists and turns, in it's unique way of unending surprises. I continue to dream about the next phase of my life and what I'd "rather have", and I know that I am pre-paving my way to this new life. I wait, expectantly, but patiently, for it's arrival. When I allow myself the time I need to re-balance and re-center myself I can view the situation from a 'removed' space where I can see it as de-personalized. When I do this, I can usually see a deeper message in the situation and have come to enjoy contemplating these deeper meanings. Life is such a learning experience, that I often view myself as a "Student of Life". After meditative contemplation, I feel more Poised and Balance with my perspective than I would otherwise. I know I can see my way to the next phase I am expecting, as a result of this contemplation and resulting changed perspective.
There are times, of course, when things happen that knock me off my perch and I find myself flapping my wings but heading down instead of upward. I find myself with an unstable perspective and must regain my balance. A little meditative time helps a great deal. I always find that it’s the better choice, even if I can only take 5 minutes to think more deeply before making a decision or jumping to conclusions.
How do YOU typically react to the situations that you think are unfair? • Do you get depressed, throw a temper tantrum, curse, or scream and yell? • Or do you wait until you can step back and contemplate the situation before jumping to conclusions?
Which act would center you? Which would bring you more poise and balance?
Which would you rather display in your words and actions?

Dance is one of the 5 Points of Worship we practice in the Druidic Craft of the Wise. I grew up loving to dance, and learned from my dance instructor that Poise comes with practice. Now that my children have grown and have lives of their own, I love the times when I can dance with my partner more closely. I've learned the value of flowing in step with another. How important it is for me to have a partner who wants to dance with me enjoying the journey of life’s experiences!
The old-timey Celtic magical dances taught interesting lessons about how people move and work together. These dances provide a philosophical understanding as well as being lots of fun! Here I learned to not only flow with a partner but also to flow in rhythm with an entire room full of folks, changing partners every so often with others who are also dancing in balance with grace and poise!
An important consideration during the influence of Libra is how we balance ourselves within the rhythm and flow of events. The lesson tells us that the poised person appears to be at ease. Under whatever circumstances he is subjected to, he is relaxed and dignified. As people respond to what they encounter in others, the poised person thus helps them to feel at ease and grants them their dignity also.
How many people can you dance with while remaining poised and well-balanced?
Is your circle of friends open or closed? Do you have your own little click and tend to not let others in? OR do you open yourself to let all those of like mind participate in your dance with life?
How might you balance your friendships while remaining poised?

I’ve been asked what stance the Druidic Craft takes on politics. I think this quote pretty well sums it up… “There will be no end to the troubles of states, or of humanity itself, till philosophers become kings in this world, or till those we now call kings and rulers really and truly become philosophers, and political power and philosophy thus come into the same hands.” ~ Plato Who will I, personally, vote for in the next election? "When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never tried before." ~ Mae West I’m hearing more and more about a Pagan Solidarity Vote… their slogan: “So Vote It Be!” I like that. But I’m not sure who they’re backing at this point. Personally, I wish Al Gore would run, because at least he realizes what's happening to our environment. It is my hope that the Pagan Community will be more organized by the time this next election rolls around and will solidly back those who aspire to lead us with political power and philosophy in the same hands.
My take on it all? I think the world is headed for a great change, which will occur no matter who is in power. Father Eli Gatoga, the Hopi and the Edgar Casey prophecies all say the same thing as do so many others… we are entering a time of “cleansing”… or as Al Gore put it in the movie AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH: “What changed in the US with hurricane Katrina is the feeling that we have entered a period of consequences.” Mother Earth has begun to scratch her itches, ridding herself of those chemical pollutants and the people who promote their use which are irritating and decreasing her overall well-being. What can we do? “Prepare for the worst and hope for the best”, warned Father Eli Gatoga. Then, no matter what happens we’ll be ready. The tribes are beginning to form. Intentional communities are springing up all over. Bartering is becoming a common currency. People are beginning to band together in groups of like-minded souls who will help each other get through the rough times that are swiftly approaching. We stand upon the horizon of a new way of life which is coming - no matter what we do, or what position we take. Those who survive will be those who are prepared for this change. The only question is… WILL we be ready? It’s worth thinking about…
